Dance Royale

Rules of Entry

  1. Age is the age turning this year (as of 31st December 2016)
  2. Troupes is average age of the group, minimum 4.
  3. Duos and Trios are age of eldest turning this year (as of 31st December 2016)
  4. Competitors age must be strictly adhered to and can be challenged at any time by the adjudicator. Anyone who does not dance in their correct age group will receive a written report with no score and will not be eligible for placing. If you have a Troupe or a Soloist that doesn't look their age, it is the parents responsibility to bring proof of age for them to avoid unnecessary disqualification.
  5. Solos, Duos and Trios Music is limited to 3 minutes.
  6. Troupes are limited to 5 minutes.
  7. Any group exceeding the time limit will receive a written report with no score and will not be eligible for placing.
  8. Competitors must enter in the correct Styles, Ages and Standards - see definitions. If you are unsure of what exactly you should enter please send us a 10 second video of the routine in question, with your studios name and the soloist or Troupes age as of 31st of December 2016 and we will direct you to the right category.
  9. There is to be no repetition of a dance or a costume for the same studio at any point of the eisteddfod. Soloist in the championship section can repeat their solo from a solo section.
  10. Props may be used for performances providing that they are immediately removed from the stage. Any damage to the venue from a prop is solely the performers responsibility.
  11. Rosin shouldn't be needed as we have beautiful quality floors.
  12. Dance Royale reserves the right to merge or split any section of our program at any time.
  13. Costume change issues will be accommodated if necessary to ensure the competition runs on time. When the program arrives, please check to make sure your group or soloist has enough time to change, if you are concerned please email us prior.
  14. No prompting the dancers on stage from the audience or side stage unless it is the 5’s Under age group. Any prompting will result in disqualification.
  15. Any unsportsmanlike behaviour will result in instant disqualification and could result in the entire school being disqualified.
  16. Students cannot participate unless full entry fees have been paid.
  17. Competitors perform at their own risk, Dance Royale takes no responsibility for accidents, injury or loss of property. This includes audience members also.
  18. No photography or videoing allowed. This is to protect choreographers work and ensure children safety. Any audience member found filming or photographing could result in their schools instant disqualification. It is every directors responsibility to let all their audience members know. Dance Royale will have an official photographer, videographer and media photographer.
  19. No person or child is allowed to approach the adjudicators except for Dance Royale staff. The number of places awarded in each section is entirely at the adjudicators discretion.
  20. Absolutely no refunds will be given for any reason once entry is accepted.
  21. The program cannot be altered once sent out unless it is a committee error. If you notice errors in the program please let us know immediately.
  22. Sections for primary and high schools are strictly for non-dance schools only.
  23. Protests may be lodged in writing accompanied by a $20 fee within 30 minutes. If the protest is dismissed the fee will be forfeited.
  24. Maximum of two teachers per school will receive free entry and they must hold their passes with them at all times. Due to the size of the venue, it is required that two teachers attend the Troupe day for all schools.
  25. The Concourse is a huge theatre! Please keep an eye out for emails we will be sending in regards to the number of teacher's required, check in process and maps of the theatre. We have strict procedures set in place by The Concourse that need to be followed to ensure safety of all participants and fluid movement of staff, dancers and audience members around the theatre.
  26. Take care when selecting costumes, music, themes and choreography as our audience is mainly parents and young students. Inappropriate selection may result in heavy point deduction and even disqualification at the discretion of the adjudicator.
  27. There are no restarts or second chances unless it is by complete fault of Dance Royale. If CD’s are scratched or damaged Dance Royale takes no responsibility.
  28. Music in the Classical Ballet section cannot have any vocals.
  29. Adjudicators Reports and scoring will be available at the end of each session.
  30. Dance Royale reserves the rights to add additional days, change competition days, change competition times and change competition locations due to unforeseen circumstances.
  31. Any photographs or videos taken of participants by Dance Royale becomes property of Dance Royale’s publicity team.
  32. Audience members are required to cheer respectfully, and keep noise and movement during performances to a minimum to avoid distracting those on stage.
  33. Dressing rooms will be allocated for troupes.
  34. Dressing rooms must be kept clean. Any dancer found to have damaged the venue will be disqualified and required to pay a replacement or cleaning fee.
  35. Please arrive to check in at least one hour ahead of the scheduled section starting time.
  36. Everyone must comply with the rules of the venue including appropriate conduct, no blocking of passageways and no illegal substances such as smoking or alcohol.
  37. Any individual causing a disruption or not following the rules set forth by Dance Royale and the partnered venues may be refused admission or removed from the venue.
  38. The Dance Royale Team will decide on any matters not covered by these rules and conditions.
  39. Entry is conditional on acceptance of these rules.
